IOB stuns Muthoot Group

Tuticorin: IOB, Chennai, which lost to Southern Railway, Chennai, in its first match, raised its game a couple of notches to beat Muthoot Group Volleyball Club, Kerala, in the Vendanta National League volleyball championship (Preliminary III) for Sterlite Trophy here on Thursday. IOB won 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-22.

In the first set, the lead kept changing before IOB took it at 25-23. In the second, Muthoot went 12-6 ahead and then 15-9 and maintained the lead to take the set at 25-22.

IOB played steadily in the third set with successful blocks by Sivabalan and Jinson and took the set at 25-23 and in the fourth, though Muthoot put up a fight, it was IOB which clinched the issue at 25-22.

In the women's section Eastern Railway outplayed Karnatak State Police 25-14, 25-16, 25-12.

Men: Muthoot Group bt ONGC, Dehradun 26-24, 11-25, 26-24, 25-20.
