Citizens told to celebrate Holi peacefully

BIDAR: Forced collection of donation for Holi celebrations will be treated as extortion. Those indulging in it will be punished, Superintendent of Police Ravi S. said in Bidar on Thursday. He was speaking at a citizen's consultative committee meeting.

Deputy commissioner Munish Moudgil urged members of all communities to celebrate the festival peacefully.

He asked people not to throw colour by force on anyone.

People should ensure that there is no untoward incident, he said.

He directed officials to close down liquor shops. He also asked officials to ensure that staff in the hospital and the City Municipal Council does not stay away from work.

Eminent citizens and officials were present at the meeting.
