Madikeri: Traders in Madikeri city resorted to lighting strike here on Thursday morning protesting against what they called high-handedness of a City Municipal Council (CMC) health inspector, who sealed four shops in the city last night following non-renewal of licences. Most of the shops and commercial establishments remained closed in the city from 7 a.m. to noon asformer councillors and citizens gathered at the Indira Gandhi Circle. When CMC Commissioner D.H. Raya arrived he was gheraoed by the agitated merchants, who demanded in writing that action would be initiated against the health inspector.
