Chennai:
Improved sanitation, cleanliness and environment friendliness among city residents this was the message of the expedition flagged off by Chennai Airport Director Dinesh Kumar on Sunday.
Staff members of the Airports Authority of India, Chennai, took part. The participants picked up litter from public places and put them in plastic bags. The members also explained to the public the use of recycled paper bags to collect biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes in separate containers. The messages included requests to the public to grow more trees and make the city green. The Airport Director said more awareness programmes would be organised periodically.
