A pricey affair

"Vaali is the costliest lyricist in the film industry." This was revealed by none other than AVM Saravanan of AVM Productions at a function in Chennai on Wednesday, wherein Mr. Vaali was felicitated for his new book on the Chief Minister. But what prompted Mr. Saravanan to spill the beans was disclosed by Mr. Vaali himself. In his reply to the felicitations, Mr. Vaali said Mr. Saravanan wanted him to write the climax song for his mega film Shivaji, starring Rajinikanth. Mr. Vaali promptly obliged but not before charging Rs.2 lakh for the song. Not expecting such a high fee, Mr. Saravanan might have described him as the costliest lyricist, Mr. Vaali said.
