Detailed investigation sought

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The State and Central Governments should conduct a detailed investigation into how a dredger deployed by the same company rammed into the Venduruthy Bridge for the second time in two years, badly damaging it, Deputy Mayor C.K. Manishankar has demanded.

In a statement here on Thursday, the Deputy Mayor said that attempts were being made to tarnish the image of the Kochi port, at a time when undesirable practices were being curbed in the port and the port was witnessing all-round progress.

Meanwhile, District Congress Committee president V.J. Paulose has demanded that more boats and junkars be put into service in the Ernakulam-West Kochi route.
