BANGALORE: Ramesh (38), a carpenter, was hacked to death allegedly by his wife at their house in Koodlu village on Hosur Road on Wednesday. Ramesh's wife, Phalakshamma, the police said, hit him on the head and neck with a weapon and killed him as he used to come home drunk and harass her. After the incident, Phalakshamma told her relatives and the police that three men had murdered Ramesh in a dispute over money. However, during interrogation she confessed saying she had sent her five-year-old son to a shop before killing her husband. The police said around 11 p.m. Phalakshamma went to her brother-in-law Dinesh's home in the same locality and concocted a story of three men turning up at her house and forcing Ramesh to repay a loan he had taken from them. She then asked Dinesh to lend her Rs. 3,000. She left when he assured her of arranging the money the next morning. Phalakshamma then returned to Dinesh's house in a few minutes and told him that the three men had murdered her husband before she could reach her house. The Parappana Agrahara police have arrested Phalakshamma.
