Two arrested for lensman's murder

Staff Reporter

Incident happened at Najafgarh

NEW DELHI: Two young men have been arrested on charges of killing a 57-year-old photographer and fleeing with his money at Najafgarh here. The accused had buried the victim's body in his rented accommodation.

The police on February 22 received a distress call from Pritam Singh, a resident of Paprawat, stating that something was amiss in the house he had rented out to Shashi Bhushan Srivastava and Dashrath.

Suspecting that something was wrong as the house had remained locked for over a week, Pritam broke open the door and found bloodstained clothes in a drum in the bathroom. The floor of the house had been dug up.

The police removed the earth and found the body of Shashi.

Suspecting Dashrath's involvement, the police launched a hunt for him and traced him to his village in Bihar. During interrogation, 19-year-old Dashrath purportedly confessed to having committed the murder in connivance with one Amarnath. Subsequently, the second accused was arrested.
