BANGALORE: Gauri Trivedi, Secretary to Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, has sought voluntary retirement from the Indian Administrative Service. A native of Ahmedabad in Gujarat, she belongs to the 1986 batch of the Karnataka cadre. According to Ms. Trivedi, "family compulsions" have led her to quit service. She had sought to quit two years ago but the retirement benefits that would accrue to her after she completed 20 years of service prompted her to put in her papers in January last. The matter is now pending before Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, and if her voluntary retirement is approved by the Union Government on the recommendation of the State Government, Ms. Gauri Trivedi will retire on April 2. She is serving the three-month statutory notice period. The Governor appointed Ms. Gauri Trivedi as his Secretary although the Chief Secretary had recommended a panel of three names. As Managing Director of the Karnataka State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation four years ago, she unearthed a racket involving the sale of foodgrains.
