`Madhava Keshava' on March 24

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: United Amateur Artists, led by Y.Gee Mahendra, will stage `Madhava Keshava', its 57th production since 1952, on March 24.

Mr. Mahendra says the UAA has come a long way since it began 55 years ago, when his father Y.G. Parthasarathy came out with the group's first play `It happened at midnight'.

`Madhava Keshava' is a comedy set in a rural background. Mr. Mahendra directs the play. "Vettrivell Puram is a village which has no crime record. Two persons enter the village and try to commit a crime and there is confusion one night (a take off from `It happened at Midnight'). The sequence leads to a comical situation," he said.

The play will be staged under the auspices of the Bharath Kalachar at Rani Seethai Hall.
