NEW SHEPHERD: Isaac Mar Cleemis, Metropolitan Archbishop of Thiruvalla, who will be installed as Major Archbishop and Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church on Monday.
PATHANAMTHITTA: Metropolitan Archbishop of Thiruvalla Isaac Mar Cleemis will be installed as Major Archbishop and Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Church (Malankara Catholic Church) at a ceremony at St. Mary's Cathedral at Pattom in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. Chief Vicar-General Cherian Ramanalil Corepiscopa said here on Friday that Geevarghese Mar Dionysius, administrator of the Church, would lead the installation ceremony during the Holy Mass on Monday. Mar Cleemis and other dignitaries will be escorted to the St. Mary's Cathedral hall from its main gateway at 8 a.m. Mar Dionysius will be the chief celebrant at the Holy Mass, which will begin at 8.15 a.m. Archbishop of Changanacherry Mar Joseph Powathil will give the homily during the Holy Mass. Cardinal Mar Varkey Vithayathil, Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, will inaugurate a felicitation meeting at the Cathedral hall at 11 a.m. Mar Dionysius will welcome the gathering. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will preside over the meeting. Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi will deliver the keynote address. Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI) president Cardinal Telesphore Toppo; Mar Thoma Metropolitan Philipose Mar Chrysostum; Archbishop of Knanaya Church Kuriakose Mar Sevarius; Bishop J.W. Gladstone of the Church of South India; Minister for Law M. Vijayakumar; Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy; Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Jayan Babu, Nair Service Society president P.V. Neelakanta Pillai; Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church secretary Alexander Karackal; Sivagiri Madhom president Swami Prakashananda and Palayam Imam Hafiz P.K. Hamsa Maulavi will be among the dignitaries who will address the meeting. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala; Kerala Congress(M) leader K.M. Mani; the former Union Minister and BJP leader O. Rajagopal; the former Union Minister P.J. Kurien; Pannian Ravindran, MP; and Chief Secretary Lissie Jacob will also address the function.
