Politicians, parties expected to argue their cases

TIRUPATI: The Delimitation Commission of India has convened a meeting here on March, 6 to facilitate a `public hearing' presumably on the draft proposals. The meet is expected to be crucial in view of some major proposals of far-reaching implications it had made reshuffling and re-arranging the Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in the district.

Political parties and individual politicians who were either directly or indirectly affected by the proposals are anxiously awaiting the meet and are expected to argue their cases for whatever it is worth. Besides, the chief of the State Election Commission (SEC) A.V.S. Reddy, Joint Secretary G.M. Ramesh would also sit through the hearing and receive written and oral representations.

Another meeting

In yet another election-related development, C.R. Brahmam, Consultant, Voters Education and Review of Counting Method and Preparedness, Hyderabad, would be convening a meeting here on March 10. Meanwhile, the CPI(M) asserted that it has not so far taken any stand on voting for the TDP in the elections.

Anantapur Staff Reporter writes: Those interested in participating in the open inquiry on the delimitation of constituencies in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa districts to be held by the Delimitation Commission in Mahati Auditorium in Tirupati on March 6 from 10 am should reach the venue by 9 am.
