Rs.5 crore for Yelagiri Hills development

Works include a toy train , swimming pool and children's amusement park

VELLORE: Development works including improvement of tourism infrastructure are to be undertaken at Yelagiri Hills at a cost of Rs. 5 crore during 2007-08. The Bhoomi Pooja for the works was performed in the presence of Vellore Collector Dharmendra Pratap Yadav at Yelagiri Hills on Friday.

The works to be undertaken include provision of a toy train around Punganur lake at a cost of Rs.1.50 crore, establishment of a wellness centre (Rs.3 lakh), adventure park with equipments (Rs.10 lakh), beautification (Rs.5 lakh), installation of waste management and recycling plants at Ponneri, Punganur and Nilavur tourism zones (Rs.20 lakh), afforestation and water harvesting structures (Rs.35 lakh), children's amusement park and landscaping at the Government Orchards at Nilavoor (Rs.40 lakh), swimming pool (Rs.55 lakh), two island cottages (Rs.10 lakh), fencing on the road sides (Rs.10 lakh), 10 tribal cottages (Rs.25 lakh), restaurant-cum-culture centre (Rs.20 lakh), landscaping of roadside walks (Rs.10 lakh), two telescope houses with equipments at Karadi Munai and Green Valley view points (Rs.25 lakh), three observation gallery view points (Rs.15 lakh), five rain shelters at Mangalam, Kottur and Swamimalai (Rs.5 lakh), hanging pedestrian bridge at Hanuman Temple (Rs.5 lakh), Swamimalai Information Centre at Mangalam (Rs.3 lakh), three trekking shelters at Jalagamparai Nilavur trail with camping facilities (Rs.5 lakh), provision of road connectivity in Nilavur, Athanavur, Pallakaniyur, Mettukaniyanur and Kottur with retaining wall and culvert (Rs.49 lakh).
