MoU on micro study on solid waste

CRM will provide financial aid

PALAKKAD: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Vadavannur grama panchayat and the faculties of Botany and Environment and Water Management of S.N. College, Alathur, for carrying out a panchayat-level micro study on quantitative and qualitative assessment of solid waste at Vadavannur grama panchayat here on Saturday.

Senior fellow of the Centre for Rural Management (CRM), Dr. K. Gireesan, said the agreement was signed under the Strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions: search for allies (SPRISA) Project.

As per the agreement, the S.N. College will carry out the study using appropriate scientific methodologies and the Vadavannur grama panchayat will provide all available data on the topic.

The CRM regional office at Kollengode will facilitate the study.

The CRM will also provide financial assistance to the grama panchayat, the MoU said.

A similar MoU was signed between the S.N. College and the Pudunagaram grama panchayat for a micro study on the quantitative and qualitative assessment of solid waste at Pudunagaram panchayat.
