Vigilance raid on security officer

Property worth Rs 25 lakhs unearthed

CUTTACK: Vigilance sleuths have unearthed moveable and immovable properties worth over Rs 25 lakhs and two petrol pumps belonging to a police inspector Ramachandra Gouda, who is currently working as a security officer of Orissa Legislative Assembly in the state capital.

Armed with a search warrant issued by the Bhubaneswar based special chief judicial magistrate (vigilance), the anti-corruption wing personnel conducted simultaneous raids on February 28 at over six places across the State to unearth the properties of the police official. "On allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, vigilance raids were conducted at Gouda's official residence at Bhubaneswar, native place at Puri and other places of his relatives in Bhadrak, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts," says an official press release.

During the search, the vigilance sleuths located a double-storied building at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district built with an approximate cost of Rs 20 lakhs and another single-storied building in Khurda purchased for an amount of Rs 43,000 in 1988 in the name of the policeman. Two plots, agricultural land and a developed homestead plot in the name of his relatives were located at Nuapada, Khurda and Bhadrak districts.

The vigilance sleuths unearthed two petrol pumps in the name of Gouda's wife and his nephew at Khurda and Nuapada.Besides, two motorcycles, vigilanceorth Rs 41,000, gold ornaments weighing 127 gms and bank deposits of Rs 42,000 were found in possession of the inspector, official sources said.
