NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit conducted a surprise check of some fair price shops in the Capital on Saturday to examine the distribution of pulses at subsidised rates through the public distribution system. Ms. Dikshit, accompanied by Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, went to three fair price shops in Trilokpuri in East Delhi to see how the distribution of arhar daal and chana daal at subsidised rates of Rs. 23.60 per kg and Rs. 21.35 per kg, respectively, was taking place. The distribution of these two pulses had been undertaken for the benefit of people living in slum clusters, resettlement colonies and the below poverty line (BPL) families. During the check, the Chief Minister's Office later claimed, the shop owners were found to be maintaining proper record of the supply. The beneficiaries of the scheme also expressed satisfaction with the distribution system.
