Chennai: Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Ajit Prakash Shah on Friday released a book, `Your God My God - Journey of the Quivering Heart,' by advocate T.S. Ramaswamy. Justice Shah said the very object of religion was that it leads to salvation. The basic theme of the book was that all religions, major or minor, preached compassion. The Judge said he had never been to temples in Mumbai. But he had visited Tiruvannamalai and Tirupathi. "When I stood before the idol in Tirupati, I had tears in my eyes." The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, received the first copy of the book. He said his ancestors had given lots of lands to Hindu temples all over Tamil Nadu. When he gave the land for the Kapaleeswarar Temple tank in Mylapore, he got a promise from the Hindus that Muslims should be allowed to use the tank for one day each year, on Moharrum. The custom is continuing till date. Archbishop of Madras Mylapore A.M. Chinnappa said Dr. Ramaswamy defended the reality that all searched for, through his book. "I did not read it. I meditated on it. It is a book on God and on ultimate reality." The author said in the materialistic world of competitions, winners were celebrated and losers forgotten. He had narrated the findings of all major religious scripts for easy reading. S. Jagadeesan, former Judge, High Court of Madras; M.A. Lakshmithathachar, president, Samskrti Foundation, Mysore; and M.A. Venkatakrishnan, Professor, Department of Vaishnavism, participated.
