Trinity College of Music honours students, teachers

CHENNAI:
The Trinity College of music, London (Madras Centre), recently distributed prizes after assessing the performance of students.
Music director Harris Jayaraj, who has appeared for many Trinity examinations conducted from the Madras Centre, distributed the prizes.
Noting how happy he was to come back to the place where he started, Harris Jayaraj said: "I will not be standing here but for my teacher A. Abdul Sattar... . I must thank all the students who passed the exams in flying colours and I also wish them greater laurels in the years to come."
The music composer presented the best music teacher prize to Abdul Sattar. Music teacher Geetha Menon won the gold medal for her lifetime achievement. K. Shyamala received the music director Ilayaraja prize for outstanding western classical musician-performing artist, and teacher. K.S. Madan Mohan won the music director M.S.Viswanathan's prize for his solo piano performance.
M.H. Das of Trinity Chennai Centre and Sister Colleen, Vice-Principal Stella Maris College, were among those who spoke.
