4 Kashmir parties criticise Musharraf's formula

Luv Puri

JAMMU: Rejecting President Musharraf's four-point formula to solve the Kashmir issue, four Kashmiri parties have said, the formula if implemented would lead to the State's disintegration.

This declaration was made Jointly by Sardar Aejaz Afzal, Head of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir Jamaat Islami, Abdul Majeed Malik, Head of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation League, Sardar Khalid Ibrahim, Head of the Jammu Kashmir People's Party and Mohd. Saghir Advocate, Chairman, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. Explaining the purpose for which the declaration was made, JKLF leader Amanullah Khan told The Hindu that they would resist any proposed solution which is not based on the freely expressed will of the majority of the people of the State or was aimed at a permanent division of any kind of the State.

Mr. Khan said the formula was going to result in depriving Kashmiris of their future and permanent disintegration of the State. Also according to him the people of the State are a primary party to the issue and they have to be included in any process for a viable solution.
