VCDs, DVDs seized

CHENNAI: As many as 7,700 VCDs, DVDs, CD readers and writers were seized in the last two days in two raids conducted by the Video Piracy Cell of the CB CID and the Chennai Central Crime Branch Video Piracy wing. Totally 11 persons were arrested.

Officials of the Chennai Video Piracy Unit I of the CB CID said they received information that DVDs and CDs of recently released Tamil movies were sold in a few Burma Bazaar shops.

A special team conducted checks on Friday and Saturday and seized 2,200 pirated copies of DVDs and CDs of recently released Tamil movies, which included `Paruthi Veeran', `Pachaikili' `Muthucharam', `Tamirbarani' and `Pori'. The seized items were valued at Rs 15 lakh, the officials said.
