NEW DELHI:
There will be no retrenchment of employees due to the merger of the two state-owned carriers Indian and Air India, a top Civil Aviation Ministry official said on Saturday.
"The Government has already made this clear to the employees' representatives and there is no change in the stance,' Civil Aviation Secretary Ashok Chawla said at a meeting of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) here.
"In fact, it is going to be the other way round. There will be parity in pay scales and those getting lower pay scales may hope to look up," Mr. Chawla said. The pay scales and perks of Indian employees are generally lower than those in Air India. He said the merger would only lead to a win-win situation. PTI
