KOCHI: A crowd of devotees thronged the Chottanikkara Bhagavathy temple for this year's "Makam thozhal" on Saturday. Chants reverberated as main priest A.R. Raman Namboodiripad opened the sanctum sanctorum at 2 p.m. The temple was open till 9 p.m. This year's festival came to an end after the deity was taken back to the temple at 11.30 p.m. A pooram was also held before the ceremonies ended. A music programme, led by the veteran musician V. Dakshinamoorthy and featuring new-generation singers, was held as part of the festival. A pandal was erected for devotees inside the temple wall.
