Summer classes come to aid of those short of attendance

HYDERABAD: The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has come out with a new scheme for candidates who are denied hall tickets on account of attendance shortage but wish to appear for the annual examinations, beginning on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the BIE, second year humanities students with less than 60 per cent attendance have to pay Rs. 500 towards attendance exemption. But they have to appear as attendance exemption candidates only.

First year humanities students with less than 60 per cent attendance can also avail of a similar facility. However, in the second year they have appear as private candidates only and they cannot study in colleges as regular students.

Summer classes

Other first and second year humanities students, who are short of attendance but don't want to pay Rs. 500, can attend summer classes. If they make up the requisite attendance with those classes they would be permitted to appear for the advanced supplementary examinations to be held in May/June without any additional payment of fee.

Other first and second year science and vocational students, who are short of the required attendance, can also attend summer classes.

If they make up the requisite attendance with those classes they would be permitted to appear for the advanced supplementary examinations to be held in May/June without any additional payment of fee.
