Teacher held for murder of maid
The police said Asha Malhotra, a high school teacher, constantly abused her domestic help Sunita and even suspected her of stealing eatables in her absence. A native of Jharkhand, Sunita had been working in the house since last November. On Wednesday, Asha allegedly pushed Sunita hard against a wall resulting in severe head injuries to the 18-year-old maid. Subsequently Sunita vomited and complained of giddiness. For three days she was treated at home but when her condition worsened on Saturday, the family took her to a nearby hospital. In view of her critical condition, the hospital authorities asked them to take her to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Ashiyana servant placement agency, through which Sunita had been hired, reported the matter to the police and Asha was arrested. She has been booked under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Fake notes seized; man held
The police said they had received a tip-off recently that a person carrying fake currency notes would come to the market for shopping. A trap was laid and the accused, Dhuroo Malla (32), was caught carrying the fake currency.
