Rise in chain snatchings

BANGALORE:
There has been a spurt in the chain-snatching cases in the city. In the sixth such incident this week, motorcycle-borne men robbed yet another woman of her gold chain in Byappanahalli police station limits on Friday.
The police said that around 9 p.m. the motorcycle riders snatched a chain worth Rs. 45,000 from Rajeshwari (55) while she was walking in 2nd Stage, Bhuvaneshwarinagar. The Byappanahalli police in the East Division have registered a case.
The five other cases were reported from the North division.
Shop burgled
Burglars struck at a shop on Devasandra Main Road on Friday night and made away with mobile phones and chargers, all worth Rs. 50,000. The proprietor of the shop, B. Harish, has lodged a complaint with the K.R. Puram police .
