Teaching Sanskrit

This refers to Nobel laureate C.V. Raman's interview with the Sanskrit Commission in which he said it was wrong to say that Sanskrit was a dead language. He observed that it was very much alive, "it embodies everything we call ours," and it was truly the national language (This Day That Age, Feb. 28). The Government should restore the due place of Sanskrit in the school and college curriculum and help our youth to preserve and promote national integration, which is in jeopardy because of short-sighted linguistic chauvinists.
