GUNTUR: Official representative of the TDP Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has accused the Congress of inciting people in the strife-ridden Rupenuguntla village in Nakirekallu mandal. At a press conference here on Sunday, Dr. Rao warned that TDP activists would rebut any attack on them.
Political mileage
He said that the murder at Rupenuguntla was the result of a running feud between two groups, and accused the Congress of trying to gain political mileage out of it. He urged the Government to conduct an impartial probe into the incidents of political murders ever since 1983. Over 150 active TDP supporters were done to death ever since the Congress came to power in 2004, he charged. Tense situation prevailed in the village after violence broke out over installation of a statue of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao on February 26, claiming the life of one Congress sympathiser Ramaiah. From that day, Congress and TDP leaders had been trading charges against each other.
Condolence meet
Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, Narasaraopet MP Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy, MLAs Kasu Krishna Reddy and Gade Venkat Reddy took part in a condolence meeting on Saturday at Rupenuguntla and expressed their solidarity with the villagers. Former MLA Sk Ziauddin was also present at the press conference.
