HONOURED: Rediff.com chairman Ajith Balakrishnan presenting the Pamban Madhavan Journalism Award to G. Venugopal in Kannur on Sunday.
KANNUR: The Pamban Madhavan Journalism Award instituted by the Kannur Press Club was bestowed on G. Venugopal of the Mangalam daily at a function here on Sunday. Presenting the award, Rediff.com chairman Ajith Balakrishnan said that journalism was a profession that protected the common man against injustices. Recalling his father's close relationship with Madhavan, political activist and journalist, Mr. Balakrishnan said that excellence in journalism should be duly recognised.
