Doctors' pay revised

Puducherry: The Health Department has revised the pay of general duty medical officers (GDMOs) and specialists working on contract basis in the Government hospitals here. An official release said on Sunday that the pay for specialists, effective retrospectively from January 2007, was hiked to Rs.24,000 a month from Rs.20,000 and for GDMOs to Rs.16,000 from Rs.12,000. Sixteen specialists and 97 GDMOs will benefit.
