TIRUPATI: Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha has received a financial assistance of Rs. 50 lakhs from the University Grants Commission (UGC) for taking up advanced research. Announcing this at a press conference here on Sunday, Vice-Chancellor Hare Krishna Satapathy said UGC sanctioned a project worth Rs. 30.5 lakhs to the varsity's Department of Sahitya under its Special Assistance Programme The project, to run for five years, lays thrust on comprehensive encyclopaedia of Sanskrit poetics basing on some standard texts. A sum of Rs.11 lakhs was released as the first instalment. The varsity was also sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs. 20 lakhs for upgradation of its computer centre.
