FESTIVE: Women celebrating Holi by smearing coloured powder on one another in Gulbarga on Sunday.
GULBARGA: Gulbarga city was awash with colours on the occasion of Holi with people from all walks of life putting aside their differences, political affiliations, caste and community to celebrate together. They came out onto the roads to celebrate the two-day festival with pomp and gaiety. Life in the city came to a grinding halt and most shops were closed. People, young and old, smeared colour powder on one another to mark the beginning of spring. However, the day belonged to boys and girls who took over the streets so no one could pass through the roads without getting some colour on themselves. The police had made elaborate security arrangements in the district in view of the celebration.
