BIJAPUR: Colours spilled on the streets of Bijapur as people celebrated Holi that continues till Rangpanchami on Wednesday.

Young people beat the "halige" and went around splashing colours on one another. There is no report about any untoward incident. What made Holi more colourful was the participation of Minister for Textiles Appasaheb Pattanashetti in the festivities. Superintendent of Police Seemant Kumar Singh; Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat Rajiv Ranjan and senior officers joined the Minister in celebrating Holi. Mr. Pattanashetti chose not to break the annual event he and his friends had been practising for years.

In Bagalkot, where Holi is celebrated on a grand scale, members of youth organisations carried barrels of coloured water on bullock carts to splash on friends and family members.
