"No constraint in LPG availability"
An official release from the state-level coordinator of oil industry (Tamil Nadu) said between April 2006 and February this year, they supplied 5.69 crore cylinders as against the 5.61 crore supplied during the corresponding period in the previous fiscal. "There is no necessity for the customers to have any anxiety as the demand is being met in full." The number of new connections released was also more 5.24 lakh up to February in the current fiscal as against 5.14 lakh in 2005-06. The companies wanted to assure LPG consumers that steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted supply. Special Correspondent
"Stepmotherly treatment continues"
Noting that stepmotherly treatment of the enterprises continues, he said in a release the ostensible benefits intended by measures would hardly benefit the units in reducing their transaction cost and helping them build capital, which was necessary to improve their competitiveness. Mr. Ramakrishnan said absence of any announcement extending the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, which is scheduled to expire this month, was a major disappointment. The scheme was of importance to the MSEs from the perspective of their modernisation and technological development and it was similar to the Technology Upgradation Fund for the textile industry. Continuation of the Fringe Benefit Tax for the MSEs and the no provision of additional corpus for the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust Scheme were also disappointing , he said. Special Correspondent
