HASSAN: The State Archives Department has preserved around five million manuscripts, Director of the department Usha Suresh has said. She was speaking at NDRK College here on Saturday after inaugurating a workshop on "Historical Documents and Importance of Manuscripts". The programme was arranged by the State Archives Department and the history department of NDRK College as part of Rashtriya Hastaprathi Samrakshana Abhiyan.
Aim
Ms. Suresh said that the State Archives Department had been formed in 2003 with an aim to protect and preserve historical manuscripts, and this had contributed towards building up knowledge of the State's historical heritage.
