Bangalore: KPCC president M. Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday lambasted the Government for its failure to protect innocent children from the increasing dog menace in Bangalore and other towns. Inaugurating a workers' meeting organised by the HAL Block Congress Committee here on Sunday, the State Congress president said that the Janata Dal (S)-BJP Government could not be expected to punish thieves, murderers and robbers and solve any problem. Mr. Kharge called upon the workers to expose the failures of Ministers, ruling coalition legislators, workers and officers in all the blocks throughout the State by educating the people on what action they should take during elections. Social and communal tensions were on the rise after the coalition Government took office. AICC general secretary B.K. Hariprasad and the former Minister A. Krishnappa, MLA, alleged that the Government had been deliberately delaying elections to the urban local bodies, including the Greater Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Mr. Hariprasad called upon the party workers to fan out to the districts and taluks and explain to the people the inefficiency of the administration which was causing inconvenience to the poor, Dalits and minorities in the State. K.B. Munivenkata Reddy, MLC, spoke. The block Congress committee president V.K. Krishnan welcomed the gathering.
