Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant has urged the Railway authorities and also directed its Transport Department to install CCTV cameras at entry, exit and other strategic points on all the important Railway Stations and Bus Stands in the State. Mr.Prashant was presiding over a meeting of the State Security Committee here recently. It was attended by senior officers of the Railways and the Intelligence Bureau besides the Home,Police and Transport Departments. He emphasized that awareness about security should be brought among all passengers and hoardings and boards should be put up at railway stations and bus stands. A warning system should be placed at bus stands and railway stations from which general directions of safety should be announced round- the- clock.
Consensus
There was consensus that for important trains like Samjhauta Express, proper segregation of the platform from general approach should be made. Only those passengers who have proper documents like visa, ticket should be allowed on that platform and system of screening the luggage, issue of boarding cards and checking of passengers before start of train similar to air journey should be introduced to ensure foolproof security. Mr.Prashant also expressed concern about the security arrangements at the big business centres and malls in Gurgaon and Faridabad. He directed the concerned district officers to ensure that metal detectors and CC cameras were installed at entry, exit, and other strategic points in these malls and in the parking lots.
