CHENNAI: A remarkable performance by students of Padmashri Nrithyalaya mesmerised the audience for about an hour during the 3rd annual music and dance festival organised by Music Connoisseurs Club at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium on Sunday. The students presented a dance programme `Arupadai Veedu' (stories on Lord Muruga), which was choreographed by Sujatha Mohan and Saradha Sethuraman, both disciples of danseuse Padma Subrahmanyam. Bharathanatyam exponent Chitra Visweswaran lighted the traditional lamp to mark the four-day music festival. She asked the parents to allow the children to take up some kind of arts along with their academics. According to her, music and dance could spin off positive energy to the children to perform well in their academics also. V.V. Srivatsa, secretary, Music Academy, recalled that once Jagannatha Baktha Sabha was a connoisseur in music and wished the Music Connoisseurs Club would rise to apt heights. V.P. Dhananjayan of Bharatakalanjali said the music sabhas should adhere to aesthetic sense. He asked the art lovers and sponsors to support the endeavours of the club in encouraging young talents. Club secretary M. Krishnaveerasekar complimented the rasikas for their overwhelming support in the growth of the club.
