CHENNAI:
Youngsters should hone their English skills, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice K. Venkatapathy said on Sunday.
The need for acquiring the knowledge of English had assumed greater importance in view of enormous opportunities in information technology, he said at the inauguration of international diploma and certificate courses of the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) for teachers and trainers.
Courses
The courses, to be conducted by the city-based Winspire Language World, would run for six months and three months respectively.
They had been based on the requirements of schoolteachers and trainers of the corporate sector.
William Bickerdike, Regional Manager, South Asia, CIE, referred to the participation of schools in Gujarat and Mizoram in the CIE's programmes.
Padmavathi Srinivasan, Chief Executive Officer, Winspire Language World, received a certificate from him to the effect that her organisation had been made a Cambridge International Centre for the courses.
