Man found dead near railway track

CHENNAI : Police have recovered the body of a 45-year-old man near the Gumidipoondi railway track on the Ennore-Athipattu stretch on Saturday night.

Police identified the deceased as Mahendran of Pudupet, who had acted in Tamil films as a stunt artist. Whether the death was the result of a fall from train or had some other cause is being investigated.

Police found some injuries in the head. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

Korukkupet police have registered a case.

Jewels missing

A woman, who got down at the Koyambedu mofussil bus terminus and boarded an autorickshaw, found her 35-sovereign jewels missing from the bag.

Police said that complainant Nandini (35) had returned from Cheyyar and was going home in Aynavaram. Koyambedu police have registered a case. Further investigation is on.

Man held

Police arrested a man on charges of blocking vehicles in an inebriated condition in Thoraipakkam on Saturday.

According to the police, Selvam (38) of Kannagi Nagar blocked a media vehicle that was accompanying the Chief Minister's convoy while he was inspecting the IT corridor. On information, the police picked up the accused for interrogation.
