Two arrested; DVDs, VCDs recovered

BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch police have arrested two persons on the charge of possessing and selling pirated music DVDs and VCDs.

The CCB team two shops in Jayanagar 4th Block and Bannerghatta Main Road. The police have recovered 847 pirated DVDs and VCDs valued at Rs. 1.38 lakh.

Man dies

A 38-year-old rider died when a Bangalore Transport Metropolitan Corporation bus his motorcycle near K.R. Circle on Sunday.

The police said Nandakumar, on his way to work, was going towards the Vidhana Soudha. The bus hit the motorcycle and Nandakumar, who fell off it, died on the spot.

The police arrested the driver Lakshmi Narayan and seized the bus.

Two dead

Two men died on Sunday of injuries suffered in a road accident in Bellandur on Friday night.

According to the police, Praveen and Vijay, both 28, were on their motorcycle when Praveen, the rider, lost control and hit a median. Both were injured and shifted to a private hospital where they died

Booked

The East division traffic police, accompanied by traffic wardens, on Saturday booked 316 cases of drunken driving and 169 of dangerous driving. Barricades were put up at several places to keep a check on such vehicles.

Killed in accident

Two people were killed in an accident at Batrapura Gate, Magadi taluk, on Sunday at around 10 p.m. The Kudur police gave the names of the victims as Krishnamurthy (35) and Vasanta (30).

The couple were on their way to a village fair at Huliyar. The accident occurred when Krishnamurthy, who was riding the motorcycle, tried to overtake a lorry and hit a tree. A case has been registered.

Woman dies

In another accident on Sunday, a woman died at Electronic City in Bangalore. The Madiwala Traffic Police gave the name of the dead as Chanda (25), a housewife.

The accident occurred when Arun (28), Chanda's husband, lost control over his motorcycle.

Chanda, who fell off the vehicle and suffered a head injury, reportedly died on the spot. Arun suffered minor injuries, the police said. A case has been registered.

Chain snatching

Two men on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain weighing 30 gm from Divya (22), who was returning home after attending computer class. The incident occurred on Saturday at around 8.30 p.m. near BDA complex at Jeevan Bima Nagar. A case has been filed.

Attacked

A group of men attacked Irfan alias Syed Mohammed (24) with an iron rod on Saturday.

The Banashankari police, who registered a case, said that Irfan had been admitted to a private hospital.

The motive for the attack was yet to be ascertained, they said.

Man dead

S. Lokesh (26), an electrician, was killed in an accident on Hosur-Singasandra Road, in the Madiwala Traffic Police Station limits, on Sunday.

The police said the accident occurred when Lokesh, who was riding a motorcycle, tried to overtake a lorry.

Lokesh lost control over his vehicle and the lorry ran over him. The police said that he died on the spot. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. A case has been registered.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian, Chikkamalle Gowda (65) of Mandya, was injured when a motorcycle ran over him near Kamakhya theatre on Ring Road, coming under Banashankari Traffic Police Station limits.

He was admitted to D.G. Hospital, where he died.

The motorcyclist also suffered injuries in the accident. A case has been registered.
