Amma Veedu project to be launched in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: The Amma Veedu project of the National Child Development Council (NCDC) will be inaugurated in Kozhikode district on March 9. At a press conference here on Monday, the organisers said the programme would be implemented by the NCDC, Kerala Region.

Mukkom Chandran, convener, Rajamma, NCDC Study Centre, among others, were present.

The objective of the project is to rehabilitate street children and those engaged in child beggary and eliminate child labour.

Educational as well as vocational training will be provided to the children.

As part of the inauguration, an awareness procession will be organised in the city to highlight the ills of child labour. P. Balan, ADM, will inaugurate the programme.

The programme was launched earlier in all districts except Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kasaragod.

The study centres set up under the NCDC are engaged in providing pre-primary as well as teacher training, the organisers said.
