KOCHI: Chief Justice of India K. G. Balakrishnan on Monday urged the media to be a little more constructive while criticising judiciary. Speaking at the release of Neethi, a magazine on law, here, he said the judiciary was working under tremendous pressure. The infrastructure available to judiciary was not good. ``There are a large number of pending cases. While criticising various judgments, the media may not be aware of the time taken for decision-making.'' The media should help in drawing the attention of policy makers for providing adequate infrastructure for judiciary. It should highlight the public impact of enactments made in Parliament. He pointed out that a recent enactment was passed in Parliament in five minutes. ``People should get time to discuss such issues. Media should try to create awareness among the public on legal topics.'' He termed the increasing media coverage on judgments delivered by the Supreme Court and High Courts as a "good trend." The former Advocate-General of the Kerala High Court, M. Ratna Singh, who is the honorary chief editor of Neethi, Advocate-General C. P. Sudhakara Prasad, Chairman of the Kerala Bar Council and Director General of Prosecution P. G. Thampi, Editor of the magazine V. Jayapradeep also spoke. Mr. Balakrishnan handed over the first copy to the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, K. S. Radhakrishnan.
