MADURAI: IBM Corporation Rational Centre of Excellence established at the K.L.N. College of Engineering, near here, will serve as a common facility to test any software application, besides development, said R. Dhamodaran, Director, Software Group, IBM India, on Monday. Inaugurating the centre, he said the new facility would focus on enhancing software development skills of students. The "context-sensitive" tool happened to be the market leader in software development platform and learning the product in depth would increase the chances of employability, he said. The best performing students from the institution would get a chance to work with some of the bright talents at IBM research facilities, Mr. Dhamodaran said. Addressing the gathering, Ajay Mittal, Director, Relationship Sales, Lenovo India, said that within three years, the personal computer requirement in education sector would increase by three times.
Regional hub
Presiding over the function, K.N.K. Ganesh, president of the college, said that the centre would become the regional hub of standard and technology in service oriented architecture. Software professionals and students from other colleges would be permitted to use this centre, he said. T.K. Mahendra Babu, Dean, Academic, Research and Development, spoke.
