KOLLAM: INTUC State president K. Suresh Babu has alleged that within 10 months, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government has become infamous for its anti-labour policies. He was inaugurating a dharna organised by INTUC activists in front of the District Collectorate here on Tuesday in protest against the price rise and alleged anti-labour policies of the Left Democratic Front Government (LDF). He said the Government had done nothing to bring down the prices of essential commodities. He also blamed the Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI(M), for the "pathetic state of affairs." The CPI(M) led the LDF to victory by bandying the slogan of workers' rights. But after assuming power, the CPI(M) forgot the workers. He said that no other Government had such anti-labour policies. The Governor in his address to the Assembly did not mention the word "worker." This, Mr. Suresh Babu said, showed the apathy of the Government towards the workers. Despite making pro-worker claims, the LDF Government, he said, was yet to discuss with the labour leaders the issues pertaining to the workers. He pointed out that the LDF Government had not announced a clear-cut labour policy. Earlier in the day, hundreds of INTUC workers assembled at the Chinnakada Rest House junction and took out a march to the District Collectorate.
