TIME FOR QUESTIONS: Quiz master J. Reeves Wesley shooting posers at the event.
COIMBATORE: `Biz Quiz `07', the national business quiz recently held at the Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science College for Women, came as a pleasant change towards the end of the academic year. Instead of organising seminars and conferences, the college ventured into quizzing to perk up students from in and around Coimbatore. With 38 teams from 25 colleges, the quiz served as a platform for the participants to showcase their business acumen. After the customary preliminary written test, 12 teams were short-listed for the semi-final by the quizmaster, J. Reeves Wesley, Assistant Professor from the School of Management, Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences. The first was the dumb charades round wherein a team member had to act like a famous personality and the other had to identify the person. The second round involved identifying name of the brand or product from the logo shown by the quizmaster. Participants demonstrated that they were business savvy by being quick with the second round. After the second stage of elimination, six teams made it to the final. The teams fought it out at `tag round' where slogans of various brands were played or told to them and they had to identify the brands or products. The teams from PSG College of Arts and Science bagged the first and third prizes, while the second prize went to the team from Kongunadu Arts and Science College. The winners received cash prizes from K. Venkatapathy, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice. The quiz saw enthusiastic participation from students who had come from Kovilpatti, Salem, Erode, Tiruchengode and Tirupattur, besides Coimbatore.
Audience
There was equal participation from the audience as well. It was an opportunity for them to unleash their potential in the area of business and win prizes. With an enthusiastic crowd, eager participation by the contestants and a humorous quizmaster, there was never a dull moment and the students enjoyed every bit while they assimilated knowledge.
