Technical team to visit South Australia

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department is leading a technical team to South Australia under a joint water resources management project.

Water is one of the key sectors identified in the sister state agreement signed by Tamil Nadu and South Australia last year. The team will interact with experts in Adelaide and exchange information on the restoration and management of water bodies and the modernisation of irrigated agriculture.

"South Australia is the driest state in Australia and Australia is the driest continent in the world. Therefore, it is but imperative that the South Australian water industry ... develop world-class expertise in water management," said A.K. Tareen, director of trade and investment for South Australia.
