Campaign for by-elections ends

BHOPAL: Campaign for the byelections in the Gwalior and Sidhi Lok Sabha constituencies and to the Udaipura Assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh ended on Tuesday.

Polling will be held on Thursday and counting on March 11.

In Gwalior, Minister for Tourism, Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia is contesting against Congress nominee Ashok Singh. In all, 22 candidates are in the fray.

Ram Sevak of the Congress represented Gwalior. He was expelled from the House following his involvement in the cash-for-query scam.

Sidhi, a reserved constituency, fell vacant when the BJP's Chandrapratap Singh also lost his seatin the wake of the scam.

Thirteen candidates are in the fray.

The former Minister, Rampal Singh, vacated the Udaipura seat on his election to Parliament from Vidisha.
