CHENNAI: All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Tuesday charged the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Government with imposing an "undeclared hike" in fares of Metro Transport Corporation buses. In a statement here, she said the minimum fare had been increased by introducing Yellow Line and Blue Line buses, adding to commuters' burden. The minimum fare in limited stop services had been increased from Rs. 2.50 to Rs. 5. She said the fare hike had been effected without improving passenger facilities. The Government had not sought the views of the public, Opposition parties and trade unions. Ms. Jayalalithaa urged the Government to withdraw the "fare hike."
