MAKING CHARGES: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh(left) and party general secretary Amar Singh addressing the media at the Rashtrapati Bhavan after meeting President Abdul Kalam in New Delhi on Tuesday.
New Delhi:
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh on Tuesday met the President, the Vice-President and the Lok Sabha Speaker and complained to them against the Congress, alleging harassment of him and his family members at its behest.
"We met President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. We are going to meet Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. Earlier in the morning we met Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. We apprised them about the Congress conspiracy against the Samajwadi Party and its leadership," Mr. Singh and party general secretary Amar Singh told reporters after the meeting.
Asked why they were meeting these leaders and not approaching court, Mr. Amar Singh said, "first because the Supreme Court was closed till today (Tuesday) and secondly we wanted to expose the Congress conspiracy."
The SP leaders also submitted a compact disc to the President, the Vice-President and the Speaker containing a conversation purportedly between a journalist and the petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi, who has a Congress background, in a PIL against him in the Supreme Court in which derogatory references were said to have been made against the apex court judges.
