DEMONSTRATION: Members of the Taxi Owners' and Drivers' Association park their vehicles near N.R. Circle to protest against the Cauvery tribunal award in Hassan on Tuesday.
HASSAN: Hundreds of taxi owners and drivers obstructed traffic at the busy N.R. Circle in Hassan on Tuesday by parking their four wheelers and forming a chain in protest against the final award of the Cauvery tribunal. Hundreds of four wheelers under the banner of the Taxi Owners' and Drivers' Association started their protest from the Exhibition Grounds and passed through the Superintendent of Police's Office, Hemavathi statue before arriving at N.R. Circle. They proceeded towards the Deputy Commissioner's Office where the association office-bearers submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister urging the Government to not to accept the Cauvery tribunal judgment. The Hassan Jilla Madivalara Sangha also took out a protest in Hassan on Tuesday led by Basava Machideva Swamiji of Chitradurga against the tribunal verdict.
